Fontainebleau Florida Hotel Discloses Data Breach Affecting Thousands of Individuals

Miami Beach, Florida – Fontainebleau Florida Hotel, LLC, a renowned hospitality entity, has issued data breach notifications following a cybersecurity incident that compromised the personal information of numerous individuals. The breach, discovered on April 11, 2023, occurred between August 30 and September 2, 2022, when an unauthorized actor gained access to the hotel’s network through an external system breach.

According to the notification letter submitted by Craig Hoffman, Partner at Baker & Hostetler, LLP, on behalf of Fontainebleau Florida Hotel, the breach resulted in the compromise of sensitive information for a total of 18,653 individuals. The exposed data included names, Social Security numbers, and financial account numbers. A comprehensive review of the systems involved confirmed that some personal data was accessed by the unauthorized actor.

Fontainebleau Hotel promptly took action upon discovering the breach, securing their systems and engaging a cybersecurity firm to conduct an investigation into the incident. As part of their response, the hotel is offering affected individuals complimentary access to Experian’s IdentityWorks identity protection services for 12 months. This service aims to detect potential misuse of personal information and provides assistance in resolving identity theft issues.

In light of the breach, Fontainebleau Hotel is deeply apologetic for any inconvenience caused and is working diligently to enhance their existing information security measures. They have established a dedicated call center to address questions and concerns from affected individuals. Those seeking further information or assistance can contact the call center at (866) 982-2299, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm Eastern Time.

The Fontainebleau Miami Beach, a luxury hotel in Florida, opened in 1954 and is recognized for its architectural significance. After changing hands several times, it is now owned by the Soffer family-controlled Fontainebleau Resorts. The hotel underwent a significant renovation and expansion in 2006 and re-opened in 2008. Due to its architectural importance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008
